The Tornadoes hosted the Port Washington Blue Angels at East Woods on Saturday, Nov. 13. The game was questionable due to the early 9 a.m. game start. The field was coated with a light layer of our first snow of the year in the wooded area of East Woods. Since soccer is played in all weather conditions other than Thurdering and Lightning, the game was started by the referee and the snow melted very quickly as the Tornadoes started scoring goals. Melissa Albanese had her first hat trick of the season. Bridget Jansen, Katie O'Brien, Erin Allen and Allison Bliven followed with nice goals. The Tornadoes had total control of the game. The defensive players were superb totally shutting down any threat attempted.

They will play in Syosset for their final game of the fall season before starting their indoor league which will last throughout the winter.

Week 7 notched the Rockets 5th win against only 2 losses in the inaugural season of the U10 boys A team. They handily defeated a tenacious team from Lynbrook/East Rockaway, 4-1.

The strong winds played an unexpected role in the game. The ball sailed through the air and bounced on the ground like a "rocket." Matthew Del Rosso, Kevin Rubio, Luka Martinovic and Chris Hoffmann each contributed to the total score. Chris was selected to take a penalty shot that he drilled into the goal on a "rope." Quinn McQuade, Stephen Ello and Alec Chiappone all played selflessly to allow the others to score.

Without the defensive play of AJ Core, Tyler Ozkan, Ryan Gouse, Chris Hoffmann, Jason Velasquez and goalie Keegan Petersen, Lynbrook would have never been held to a solo goal.

The Rockets will be competing against Plainedge, their next opponent, who incidentally is undefeated heretofore. We know the boys will continue to do their very best with two games remaining on the schedule.

The Oyster Bay Blizzards defeated the Jericho Cougars 7 -0 on Sunday 11/14. Goals were scored by Maddie Howes, Alex Venuto, Joselyn Cisternas, Brooke Bliven, Kelsey Todd and Monique Kelly (2). Monique is the leading goal scorer this year with 7. Molly Kirkpatrick notched her 4th shutout of the season with the help of Addie Reilly. Maria Moreno, Rebecca Orlich and Stephanie Chakiryan controlled the middle of the field stopping most of the Cougars advances. The defense of Courtney Collins, Lex Pillari and Nicole Podpirka was once again superb - destroying all attacks.

With one game left the Blizzards are tied for second place - a win will hopefully move them up a division.

Our Girls U13 Avalanche tied the much-improved RVC Riptide 2-2 this Sunday. This was our second meeting of the season vs. RVC and after being soundly defeated the first time, RVC was ready for the challenge. RVC jumped to an early 1-0 lead, but this would not last long as Keri Bongiovanni scored on hard shot from the left side to tie the game 1-1. Sabrina Layne scored our second goal on a follow-up shot to put us ahead 2-1. To their credit RVC never gave up and came back to tie the game 2-2 with less than 10 minutes left. The Avalanche poured on the pressure but were unable to find the net and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Much credit to our keeper Kat Fressle and sweeper Alyssa Garcia, who were back in top form. Both goals against were unsaveable. Also solid performances at mid-field by Catrin Skaperdas and Alexa Peseri. The Avalanche is now tied for second place in their division.

The Boys U19 Wildcats traveled to Stony Brook with only a seven-man squad. Among the missing was our keeper who was at his varsity championship game. (His school, Massapequa, beat Sachem East 3-2). The Wildcats played hard but found it impossible to overcome Stony Brook's four man plus substitutes advantage. After 90 minutes of exhausting soccer, the Wildcats were on the short end of a 6-3 final score. Fabian Santibanez scored all 3 goals and Nick Chakiryan was the keeper for the day. They were joined by their always reliable teammates, Scott and Brian Witthuhn, Isaias Gomez, Gerhard Zuniga and Rodin Ulloa.
