Locust Valley High School senior Jennifer Spindler has been playing field hockey since the seventh grade and her dedication has paid huge dividends. Jennifer was selected a member of the 2005 High School National Academic Squad as voted on by the National Field Hockey Coaches' Association.
Jennifer, a star on the varsity squad, is a left wing who enjoys competition, making decisions, performing for teammates, and the satisfaction of scoring, with which she is quite familiar. "We are all extremely proud of Jennifer's accomplishments," said Coach Sandy Jozefowski. "She is a great athlete and an outstanding student. Jennifer has found the proper balance and it has led to her success on the field and in the classroom."
Jennifer has a weighted average of 96.3, earned by taking advanced courses en route to an International Baccalaureate Diploma, which she will receive in June. The saying, "The more you have to do, the more you get done," rings true for Jennifer.
When not working to improve her impressive grade point average, Jennifer serves as an active member of the community. She has been involved in several fundraisers for notable causes such as breast cancer and the school's annual Relay for Life. Jennifer is also a member of several other school clubs and activities such as the National Honor Society, Science Honor Society, art club, Science Olympiad, and the drama club where she acts and works as part of the stage crew. She also plays softball and enjoys bowling. Even the summer months are a busy time for Jennifer who works at the Friends Academy Summer Camp.
