Assembly Acts on Wetland Protection, Senate Asked to Follow Their Lead
Conservation groups cheered last week as the New York State Assembly passed legislation on the Clean Water Protection/Flood Prevention Act (A.2048) to expand protection of New York's wetlands by an overwhelming bi-partisan vote. The bill still needs to be passed by the New York State Senate.

Oyster Bay Civic Association Awards Contest Winners
Winners of the Oyster Bay Civic Association (OBCA) met at Canterbury Ales on Sunday, Feb. 19 to receive their plaques for the holiday house-decorating contest for the hamlet of Oyster Bay. Snowy weather and vacations delayed the presentation to three families, the Caggianos, the Aquilinos and the Lopezs.

Polar Bear Break the Ice Event Fundraiser Supports United Cerebral Palsy Association
Break out your fur-lined bathing suit and keep the blankets and hot chocolate ready! The United Cerebral Palsy Association of Nassau County, Inc. (UCPN) will be hosting its second annual Polar Bear Break the Ice Swim benefit fundraiser. The event is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 at the beach at Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park.

My in-laws have taken an interest in all the changes occurring in Oyster Bay. They too live in waterfront communities. My brother-in-law's family resides in the extremely historic waterfront community of Marblehead, MA. My mother-in-law and father-in-law live on the water in Cutchogue on the North Fork of Long Island.
