Peter Palczewski called about the mystery picture in the Feb. 23 issue of the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot. He said, "It is the dock at the waterfront center. I live near it, so I see it." Peter is a student at the Vernon School.

Jack Greenfield called to say he too recognized the mystery picture. "It's the place where you go to get to the Christeen." He said he recognized the location because of taking field trips to the Christeen as a student at LuHi and spending days at camp which included being aboard the Christeen.

We received this answer too late for the Feb. 16 issue. In it, that picture was also identified by Edward B. (Woody) Ryder IV. He said that the mystery picture from Feb. 16, "Looks like the little library building in the Locust Valley area, which you pass when driving from Bayville to Upper Brookville, just after the road bends and you pass that nursery at the crook of the road. It is on your right, recessed from the roadway." Billy Minicozzi made the same guess.

By now, Mr. Ryder will have read that former Town Councilman Tom Hogan correctly identified the house as the Village Hall for Upper Brookville.

Mr. Ryder added, "I'd like to think that when Teddy Roosevelt was vice president, had he accidentally shot a friend at Sagamore Hill while flushing quail, he'd have deferred to local print media and called the Enterprise Pilot before putting out the news on "the wire," but would definitely have let President McKinley know on the day it happened! "

"Bully news!" the Enterprise Pilot would have said. It's always a good newspaper procedure to tie current events in with your stories to keep them relevant!
