Josephine Cecilia Ruschmeyer, 94, died on Feb. 21, 2006. She was born in Oyster Bay on March 3, 1911, the daughter of Ella Duryea Totten and John Edward Cassell.
Josephine is survived by her husband of 72 years, Henry Karl; daughters, Linda Jane Furness of Saranac, NY, and Susan Duryea Rushchmeyer of Anchor Bay, CA; a son The Rev. Henry Cassell Ruschmeyer of Sarasota, FL; six grandchildren, Michelle L. Momot of Guilderland, NY, Dr. M.J. Price (Marcus) of Zephyrhills, FL, Jennifer Brown, Heather Brown and Jodie Brown, all of Long Island, and Glen Brown of Delmar, NY; six great-grandchildren, Adira, Rowan, Gage, Tristan and Oona Brown-De-Virgio and Brenda Brown-McConnell, all of Long Island. She was predeceased by a daughter Jean Catherine Brown in 1992.
Josephine graduated from Jamaica High School. She was a past member of the Asheville Country Club, Asheville, NC, the Longboat Key Club, Longboat Key, FL, and a member of Women of Redeemer, Church of the Redeemer, Sarasota, FL.
Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. A Requiem Eucharist was held at the Church of the Redeemer. Burial St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brookville. Donations in her memory may be made to the Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236.
Agostino Buonfiglio, 83, of Margate, FL, former resident of Bayville, died on Feb. 27, 2006. He was a WWII veteran sergeant of the Army Air Corps, a Democratic Zone leader, Congressional Aid, the recipient of a Legislative Resolution commemorating his distinguished civic and community services. He was the original organizer and first director of St. Gertrude's CYO program, president of the Police Boys Club, Drum and Bugle Corps, chairman of Bayville Headstart Program, member of the TOBAY Youth Advisory Board, chairman of the local Cerebral Palsy Drive, an organizer of the Bayville Community Baseball League, member of American Legion Robert H. Spittel Post 1285, Knights of Columbus and a charter member of the Sons of Italy of Bayville.
Husband of the late Mary. Father of Nat (Lori), Jerry (Judy), Anthony, Joanne McGrath and Lucille Lollo (Jeff). Grandfather of James Buonfiglio (Andrea), Audra Britton (Kurt), Matthew, Robert, Michael, Alec, Nicholas, Andrew, Kristina and David. Great-grandfather of Alexandra, Jacqueline, Christopher, Samantha, Katherine and William.
