We recently have received information for the Oyster Bay Enterprise Pilot too late for publication. It is something that leaves us feeling badly because we want to be able to publicize local events but the reality is, the presses just keep on moving.
We actually appreciate news items to arrive at the newspaper on the Thursday before publication. On Thursdays and Fridays we are finalizing what will be in the next issue of the newspaper. Over the weekend we often, as was the case last weekend, are out covering stories. Last weekend that meant the Raynham Hall Museum auction on Saturday and the Lions Pancake Breakfast on Sunday. Then comes Monday, our production day, the day we put the newspaper "to bed."
While that may sound as if we are asking for a long notification time, we actually need the time because on Monday night the pages go to our camera room and the plates are made for the press. On Tuesday morning our press runs the paper. The newspapers are delivered to the Oyster Bay Post Office on Tuesday night so they can be sorted on Wednesday and delivered to homes on Thursday.
The newsstands in the Oyster Bay area receive the paper on Wednesday.
We try to accommodate your needs as best we can. You are really important to us.
Thank you very much for your cooperation.
We try to print all the news we can. Just please keep our deadlines in mind. After all, using a sports analogy, someone has to declare when the ball game is over.
