The Village of Bayville is holding their eleventh annual 5K run on Saturday, May 20. The event is sponsored by IGA/The Food Basket and is a benefit for the Breast Cancer at the Women's Center at Huntington Hospital.

The run starts at 9 a.m. sharp at West Harbor Memorial Beach in Bayville. The race starts and finishes at West Harbor Memorial Park. It is a flat 5K: elevation from 4 to 8 ft. The race route is a USA T&F certified 5K (3.177) and is sanctioned by the M.A.C. There are splits every mile, runners timed using winning time chip technology.

Registration can be done prior to May 16 and costs $18. Please make checks payable to: Village of Bayville, and mail them to: Recreation Department, Village of Bayville, 34 School St., Bayville NY 11709. On race day registration will cost $20.

T-shirts will go to all those pre-registered. Awards will be given for the Top Male and Female Overall; and Top Male and Female in the following age categories: 12-under; 13 -19; 20 -24; 25 - 29; 30 -34; 35 -39; 40 - 44; 45 - 49; 50 -54; 55 -59; 60 - 69; 70 +; and physically challenged.

Post race activities include: awards and refreshments following the race. The race management is by the Start to Finish Corporation.

Packet pick-up on race day only from 7:30 to 8:45 at the beach. No rollerblades, skates, bicycles, baby joggers/strollers or pets are allowed in the race. If you are under 18 you need the signature of a parent.
