Thirteen of Grenville Baker Boys & Girls Club members, under the leadership of Robert and Judy Reimels, will compete at Cooperstown Dream Park 2006 American Youth Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY from July 8 through July 14. The team, also know as the "Gators," will play America's favorite pastime with some 8,000 kids participating in the game of baseball. Kids from all over the country will come together for Cooperstown Dreams Park 2006 for pin trading, orientation, skills competitions and the excitement of the game.
The 13 baseball players including Christopher Appell, Cullen Coleman, Joseph Cracchiola, Kenny Daley, Liam Kearney, John McConie, Glenn Morfis, Jr., Daniel Reimels, Tommy Reith, Christian Taylor, Joseph Tustin, Cody West and Nicholas West, traveled all over Long Island to play against other teams in preparation for the upcoming Cooperstown event. They and their families also help raise funds for this week-long event through the Club's Gator Café and various fundraising events including a 3-On-3 basketball tournament and an NBA 2 Ball contest in addition to a "Casino Night" at the Bayville Firehouse this past January. The team is greatly appreciative to all who supported this cause, especially Assemblyman Rob Walker of the 15th Assembly District for his generous contribution. Please call the Club or Judy Reimels at 759-2439 if you wish to make a donation to the Gators Cooperstown Dream Park trip.
Cooperstown Dream Park was built to carry on the dream of Louis A. Presutti, who wanted to give the youth of America a chance to play in the legendary home of baseball, Cooperstown. Cooperstown Dreams Park has been referred to as "America's first and foremost youth experience" and the "crown jewel of youth baseball."
