At the WaterFront Center's Sixth Annual Bay Day in June, held at Oyster Bay's Beekman Beach, East Woods students Colin and Patrick McFaul and Mack Feldman won the Anything That Floats Race.

The race challenges participants to create an outrageous floating device made of nontraditional materials and enhances their awareness of the marine environment - with the winner receiving $500 for a school or favorite charity. Colin, Patrick and Mack elected to give their winnings to East Woods for the purchase of another new SmartBoard.

On July 11, vice president of the Waterfront Center and East Woods past parent, Jamie T. Deming, congratulated the boys and presented East Woods Headmaster Dr. Nathaniel Peirce with a check. According to Colin McFaul, who will be entering East Woods Eighth Grade in September, "We were so happy to be able to give back to our school. We hope to do it again next year."
