It is always inspiring to see organizations prosper and grow. Our congratulations go to the joint civics of Oyster Bay and East Norwich. They are the groups that represent "you" the local homeowners and residents of Oyster Bay and East Norwich.
That they are a respected force in the community is evidenced by the wonderful response from local businesses and members of the community in donating auction items toward their Friday evening, May 16 "just for fun" gathering at the Sagamore Yacht Club.
We received a call from Oyster Bay Civic Association President Bill Von Novak telling us they will be holding a special silent auction for some of the big ticket items.
The special items include: a Mort Künstler signed and numbered Civil War print- Hero of Little Round Top, with a certificate of authenticity; a one-week stay at a two-bedroom condominium that sleeps seven in North Creek near Gore Mountain and 20 miles from Lake George; four indoor football tickets - Dragons vs. Philadelphia Soul; and two Yankee baseball tickets - Yankees vs. Oakland A's.
There will be a 50/50 cash raffle (tickets: 11 for $10 or 25 for $20).
The Chinese Auction will feature 11 tickets for $10 or 25 for $20. The items donated are from: Evolution Fitness; Canterbury Ales; Mr. and Mrs. Larry Martone (Café Al Dente Gift Certificate); Martin Viette; Rothmann's Steakhouse; Tuesday & Company Floral Events; Appliance World; Oyster Bay Marine Supply; Candy Bouquet (Glen Head); Fiddleheads; Coin Gallery; Dodds & Eder; Terry's Color Creations; Curves Fitness; Gooseberry Grove; Bay Cleaners; Mario's Pizza; Stop & Shop; Saggio's; Subway; Café Al Dente; Anthony's Pizzeria; Le Petit Boulangerie; and from Rosemarie Colvin, six large gift baskets.
The catering will be done by Harborside Delicatessen of Oyster Bay; with dessert donations from The Baykery, Bagel Boss, Dunkin' Donuts, and various attendees.
It looks like a great evening for two great organizations and their members to get together to celebrate and store up memories in a great location on the harbor we all love.
Again, we congratulate the two organizations that have shown they truly represent the residents of Oyster Bay and East Norwich!
