Mayor Watson Announces Re-Election Bid

On Saturday, April 5, Bayville Mayor Douglas G. Watson stood at the clock tower on Bayville Road and Ludlum Avenue to announce his bid for re-election, and introduced three trustees running for open spots on the Village Board.

Running along the Taxpayers Party of Bayville, Inc. line, the slate of candidates for trustee includes Kathryn Caulfield, Joseph Peniagua and Gregory Reisiger; each are seeking a four-year term. Watson is seeking re-election to a second four-year term.

“We didn’t just pick them out of a hat...this was carefully discussed, they are well-qualified and we welcome the chance to run as a team and win the election,” said Watson.

“As a veteran of 18 years as a trustee and four years as mayor, I have experience to navigate the village through these difficult times and look forward to support myself and the whole team,” said Watson. “The Village of Bayville has been a great place to live and raise my children and I want the opportunity to complete some projects that will leave Bayville even better than it is today.”

The election is expected to be contested, though the opponents have not yet been announced.

Watson mentioned some of the recent projects completed in the village and said, “We only want the best for our residents, that’s why we do the work we do.”

“I’ve known Doug a long time, and as mayor, he grew in the position...he’s gained knowledge and the contacts he has are phenomenal. It’s an honor to serve with him,” said Trustee Timothy Fay, who was in attendance along with Trustee Peter Valsecchi, Jr. to show their support.
