Billy Minicozzi said the Mystery Picture in the Jan. 28 issue of the Enterprise Pilot was the Town of Oyster Bay 9/11 sign in Oyster Bay. That is not correct. [On a sports note he said the last time the Jets won the Superbowl was in 1969. The Mets won that year too and what was interesting is that they both won while playing in Shea Stadium. He said there was no Giants stadium in 1969. The Jets beat the Colts that year he said.]
Belle Santora of East Norwich said, “The mystery picture is the entrance to TR Park. The entrance to where the 9/11 Memorial is located.” It was a good guess too, but not correct.
But Belle had a joke for us. She said, a waitress was asked how old she was by someone who was trying to guess her age. She answered, “I was a waitress at the last supper.”
Pat Devlin of Oyster Bay called about the Jan. 28 “how well do you know the area picture” and she said, “It’s showing the way to the TOB 9/11 memorial site. It’s on the way to Beekman Beach, down near the sailing school. After crossing the tracks and making the first left turn you are there. I don’t recall seeing that particular sign but I see the beach behind the sign - so it must be that beach. I don’t remember the name of the road.” Ms. Devlin’s answer is great. She is correct that that is where the Oyster Bay 9/11 Memorial is but it is not where the TOB 9/11 Memorial is located.
Let’s see who answers the mystery picture next week! It’s always fun when they are hard to guess.
