North Shore Reads

Book lovers from seven public libraries, including Roslyn will be meeting at the Metropolitan in Glen Cove on Wednesday, April 10, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., for North Shore Reads, a local celebration of Long Island Reads and National Library Week.

This entertaining evening has become a popular annual event, bringing communities together through reading. The book discussion will be led by the wit and wisdom of Master of Ceremonies John Canning, Sea Cliff resident, attorney and Director of Inter-governmental Affairs for the Town of Oyster Bay. This year’s free raffles will include an e-reader. This year’s selection is Sutton, a fictionalized account of the infamous bank robber, Willie Sutton, by journalist and Pulitzer Prize winner J. R. Moehringer, who wrote the bestseller, The Tender Bar, a memoir about growing up in Manhasset. All North Shore residents are cordially invited to come to the second floor of the Metropolitan at 3 Glen Cove Road (off Pratt Boulevard) at 7 p.m. on April 10, to enjoy an evening of lively book discussion and refreshments.

Other public libraries involved in the celebration include Oyster Bay-East Norwich, Gold Coast, Locust Valley, Glen Cove, Sea Cliff and Bayville.
