Doo-Wop Fundraiser

An Evening With the Stars: Doo-Wop Fundraiser to help support the games for the physically challenged will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. at Bethpage High School. Featuring Winnie Winfield, Lenny Dell and the Dimensions, Continentals, Cathy Jean, The Fireflies, The Jarmels, and Classic Sounds. Tickets are $25 each, reserved seating only. Free parking. A safe, confidential, supportive environment to talk about what you have been through, reactions and feelings and how to move forward. You are not alone! Facilitated by a professional therapist. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to attend. The lectures are generally held on the first Monday of each month at the Town of Oyster Bay Syosset-Woodbury Community Center, 7900 Jericho Tpke., Woodbury, at 7:45 p.m. For more information, call 631-277-3844.

Clutterers Anonymous (CLA), a 12-step self-help group, offers help and support to those who have clutter problems in their homes or workplace. Meets every Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., in Plainview. There are no dues or fees. While everyone is subject to the trials and tribulations that life offers on a day-to-day basis, some people can use just a little bit of extra help. Luckily, there’s help with a proven track record out there for those who need it. 

 

Joe Russo of Old Bethpage heads up the Recovery International meetings held weekly at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library. These meetings extol the virtues of the self-help techniques developed by the late Dr. Abraham Low, M.D., associate professor of psychiatry as the University of Illinois Medical School.  

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District Facilities Upgrades and Improvements Advisory Committee presented their recommendations regarding facility improvements to the Board of Education on Sept. The committee prioritized numerous projects to deliver a report that includes various building improvements and security upgrades.
