Join the Plainview library for the “Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands, Rock & Roll Book Tour,” featuring the book launch of author Chris Bohjalian’s newest book, Close Your Eyes, Hold Hands. Luxury bus transportation leaves July 10 at 5 p.m., costs $25 per person and includes transportaton to the Armenian General Benevolent Union at 55 East 58th St., entry into the book launch party and light refreshments. The St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Washington Avenue, presents a charity tag sale from 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, July 13. Tweens and teens entering grades five through 12 are invited to the Plainview library to join in on a program. Attendees will use ink and paint to create a unique work of art on a mirrored windowpane. Program is from 7 to 8 p.m. and takes place in downstairs meeting room A.
The Plainview library hosts H. Roy Jaffee and his presents an interactive visual lecture featuring cars almost never seen by the public. Starting at 2 p.m., the lecture will feature information on many one-of-a-kind and custom built automobiles built by renowned coach builders in the U.S. and abroad.
The Plainview library presents live music featuring 1960s British invasion music specialists Carnaby St. at 8 p.m. Carnaby St. takes attendees on a rousing musical experience of the 1960s, breathing new life into the music of British and American bands such as The Beatles, The Kinds, The Hollies, The Monkees, The Byrds and many more from this memorable musical decade. The Plainview library continues to celebrate 50 years with its adult summer reading club.
