No argument here — the Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School mock trial team defeated 45 schools in the courtroom to win the Nassau County Championship in the 2014 New York State Mock Trial tournament.
Coordinated each year by the Nassau County Bar Association, Nassau boasts the largest team enrollment for a single county in the state in this competition, which pits high school teams against one another to argue their case before judges in courtrooms of the Supreme Court in Mineola. This year, 118 attorneys and judges volunteered and more than 500 students from 46 high schools competed in seven rounds, consisting of 77 trials.
The Plainview-Old Bethpage champions went on to compete for the state title in Albany in mid-May, placing fourth in the finals.
