Edward S. Johnson, formerly of Port Washington, died on May 30, 2003. He was retired from NCPD and was a former member of the PW Fire Dept. Husband of Rose. Arrangements were made by the M.A. Connell Funeral Home, Huntington Station. Charlotte Palmer, of Searingtown and Port Washington, died on May 31, 2003. She was a retired teacher at Carle Place High School. Wife of the late Robert. Aunt of Kathleen Scheu and Joyce Fischer. Great-aunt of Patrick, Andrew, Jeanette, Denise, Billy and the late John Jr. Arrangements were made by the Weigand Bros. Funeral Home, Williston Park. Interment Amityville Cemetery. Sylvia E. Matheo (nee Kenny), 76, of Port Washington, died on Juen 6, 2003. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband Roberto. She is survived by her daughters, Nanettte Matheo-Plair and Loreta Matheo-Kass (Rob); and her grandchildren, André, Gina, Nicholas and Gabe. Also survived by her sister Yvonne Kenny. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Committal service at LI National Cemetery, Pinelawn. A memorial service was held June 11 at the Unitarian Universalist Shelter Rock Church. Glenn P. Garvey, of Port Washington, died on June 7, 2003. Father of Glenn M., Cara, Bill and their mother Cathy. Son of Kay and the late William. Brother of Bill and Cheryl, Kathleen, Patti and Eric and the late Robert and James. Uncle of Kellie, Leticia, Philip, Sean, Dawn and Shannon. Arrangements were made by the New Hyde Park Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial at Notre Dame RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.

Sarah H. Plummer, daughter of Hubert and Ann Plummer of Port Washington, died suddenly June 10, 2003 of a massive epileptic seizure at her residence in Medford, MA.

Sarah was a graduate of the Schreiber High School Class of 1991 and Bates College in Lewiston, ME. She was an archaeologist completing her Master's degree in Classical Archaeology at Tufts University and working with the Giza Archives Project of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts.

Funeral services will be held at St. Stephen's Church, Port Washington, on Saturday, June 21, at 2 p.m. with a private interment in St. Stephen's Columbarium immediately following the ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Sarah H. Plummer Memorial Fund, an endowed prize for graduate students in the Tufts Classics Department, with preference to students with disabilities. Checks may be written to "Trustees of Tufts University" with "Sarah H. Plummer Memorial Fund" written on the Memo line. The address is: Sarah H. Sarah is survived by her parents, her grandmother Gwen Plummer of Setauket, her brother Hubert Plummer of Garden City and her sister Cary Plummer of Port Washington.

Nadine Carroll, 73, lifetime Port Washington resident passed away on June 15, 2003. Beloved wife of the late James Robert Carroll; loving mother of Jody, Keith, Laura Leigh and Melanie Carroll; loving mother-in-law of Jeannie Carroll, Tony El Dib and Scott Rex. Devoted grandmother of Craig, Max, Jeremy, Kirsten and Luke. Cherished aunt of Jennifer, Jessica and Mark Langdon Jr. Devoted sister of the late Johanne Sheppard. Memorial service will be held on June 23 at 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock, 48 Shelter Rock Rd., Manhasset, 627-6560.
