Margaret Bartlett Shaw, 84, of Keene died on June 16, 2003, at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon following a period of failing health. She was born in Detroit June 12, 1919, the daughter of Albert and Louise (Moyer) Wood and has resided in Kingsville, Ontario, prior to moving to Port Washington in 1930.
Mrs. Shaw attended school in Port Washington and married Robert S. Bartlett in 1944. Mr. Bartlett died in 1974. She was a summer resident of Alstead, NH since 1950 prior to moving to Keene where she lived until last winter. She has since lived with her daughter in Alstead Center, NH.
Margaret's professional name was Mari B. Shaw. She was an actress touring Europe with the USO in 1946 and performing in summer stock. She was a freelance writer and contributor to the Family Forum page of the Christian Science Monitor. She ran her own cookie and bread bakery in Port Washington for seven years.
She was an active correspondent and has done professional photography of flowers for several years. The exquisite flower photo cards she created and corresponded upon were a gift and source of tremendous beauty and inspiration. She drew great strength from her daily spiritual studies, especially the writings of the Christian Science and Unity religions.
Mrs. Shaw had a deep appreciation of the arts, from masterworks of painting, ballet and music, to the works of local schoolchildren, from community theater to Monadnock Music.
She was predeceased by her second husband, Stanley E. Shaw, who died in September of 2002 and a daughter, Laurie Bartlett, who died in 1959. Survivors include: two brothers, Moyer Wood of Kennett Square, PA, and Paul Wood of Port Washington; one sister, PenelopeW. Thompson of Boca Raton, FL; three children, Carol Renzelman and Dan Bartlett, both of Alstead, NH, and Jeff Bartlett of Long Lake, MN; two stepdaughters, Pamela Record of Port Washington and Marjorie Decker of Palmetto, GA; four granddaughters, one grandson and numerous stepchildren.
A "Time of Visitation and Remembrance" was held June 21 at the home of the Renzelmans. A memorial service will be held in August with the date to be announced. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made in memory of Mrs. Shaw to the Unity School of Christianity, 1901 NW Blue Pky., Unity Village, MD 64065-0001 or to the Union Concerned Scientists, 26 Church St., Cambridge, MA 02238. The Fletcher Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Keene, was in charge of arrangements.
Angelina De Angelo passed away on June 19, 2003, two months before her 92nd birthday. She was born and raised in Port Washington and lived on Ohio Ave. for most of those years. Angelina was a resident of the Sands Point Nursing Home for the last six months of her life. She was predeceased by her husband Michael; her parents Lena and Frank Ciminera; and her brothers, Ralph and Pat; and a sister-in-law Fay Ciminera. Angelina is survived by her loving sister and brother-in-law Ann and Lou Picciano; sister-in-law Angie Ciminera; nephews Dr. Peter Ciminera (Karen), Anthony Picciano (Gloria); and nieces Lee Puppelo (Anthony) and Annette Ligeri (Lou). She was a favorite great aunt and babysitter to Debbie Gido, Louis Ligeri and Tony and Alex Picciano. Aunt Angie was a very special part of our lives and was loved dearly. She will be missed by all of her family.
Frank Salerno, 94, a lifelong resident of Port Washington, died on June 19, 2003. He is survived by his wife, Victoria; his children, Frank Pierce (Lawrence) and Jean Meisenzahl (Wayne). Also survived by two sisters, Mary and Antoinette and a brother, James. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. A Fireman's service was held at the Atlantic Hook and Ladder Co. on June 20. Interment Nassau Knolls Cemetery.
