The 21st annual WICC McDermott Autogroup Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth takes place Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 23-24 on the Long Island Sound. Sept. 13-14 has been delegated as the alternate weekend in case the tournament needs to be rescheduled due to natural disaster (e.g. hurricane). The tournament offers over $45,000 in cash and attracts more than 5,000 registered anglers from Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and as far away as Florida and Texas for this one of a kind tournament.

This year's competition offers a grand prize of $25,000 for the heaviest bluefish, $10,000 for second, $3,000 for third, $1,000 each for fourth and fifth, and $200 each for the next 15 heaviest catches. Back by popular demand, a $200 port prize is awarded for the heaviest fish at each weigh station along the coastline off Long Island.

WICC broadcasts live all weekend long from Captain's Cove with regular programming and hourly updates on the tournament.

Registration for the Greatest Bluefish Tournament on Earth continues until 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, and can be made by mail or at a number of designated bait and tackle shops. The registration fee is $33 per entrant.
