It seems that every local election (e.g.: school board, commissioners, mayor) the campaigns resort to lower and lower tactics. I have three school age boys who have played in almost every league (including town and travel soccer) and sport. I coach numerous teams and currently run three separate leagues and travel teams. Those leagues use school and town facilities since I have no town "hometown rink." While I appreciate the town's and schools' compliance I do not feel it is their obligation to provide and build new facilities for these leagues. In the recent school board election a lot of anonymous letters were circulated attacking Julie Meyer as anti-sports. I can tell you firsthand Julie and Peter Meyer have been not only sponsoring teams in my league, but also attending their teams' games. Julie Meyer was a school board member for the right reasons, because she actually cares about her community. For some spineless person to sit in a dark room somewhere on the computer and attack her "as a menace to children" to try to gain votes and not sign their name, but use organizations' names is shameful. I would be curious to see if this person had the nerve to stand behind that statement with Julie's husband being present. How about in upcoming elections, candidates and supporters try staying aboveboard and voters begin to realize where these batch mailings emanate from.
