Eila Sheldon, longtime resident of Port Washington, died peacefully at home on July 21, 2003. Mother of Don and Gail Sheldon. Grandmother of Donald Michael Sheldon. Aunt of Robert Merrill and Charlie and Valerie Merrill. During her more than 50 years in Port Washington, Mrs. Sheldon was a real estate broker and an active member of the Manhasset Community Club, St. Francis Guild, Plandome Women's Club and several other charitable organizations. She was a strong and caring lady who will be missed. Arrangements were made by the Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Services private. Edward K. Mallon, 72, of Glen Cove, longtime resident of Port Washington, died on Aug. 9, 2003. Edward is survived by his sons, Michael, Timothy and Patrick. He was the former dock master at Purdy's Shipyard in Port Washington. Arrangements were made by Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. Services were private.

Stephen Joseph McGrade Jr., 42, of Frisco, TX, died on Aug. 11, 2003. Steve was born Sept. 20, 1960 in Port Washington. He married Denise Freeman on Aug. 18, 1984 in Logansport, LA. Steve and Denise have resided in Frisco for 12 years. Steve was a senior manager and product engineer with Aleatel and Denise has a dental practice in Plano.

Steve and Denise grew up in Port Washington where they attended Manorhaven Elementary School and John Phillip Sousa Jr. High School. Steven is a 2978 graduate of Port Washington High School. His parents Marion and Stephen J. (Skippy) McGrade Sr. are longtime residents of Port Washington who moved to Frisco eight years ago.

Steve is survived by his wife and their two children, Patrick Stephen, 11, and Sarah Katherine, 9, and his parents, all of Frisco. He is also survived by a sister Kathleen and brother-in-law, Joe Tiberia of Huntington; and by Denise's family, Charles and Frances Freeman of Logansport and Jackie Lee, Angel, Veronica and Carlos Perez of Miramar, FL.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 14 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Frisco with Msgr. Leon Duesman and Dr. Chuck Martin officiating. A Memorial Mass was held Aug. 18 at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Interment followed at Ridgeview West Memorial Park, Frisco. Arrangements were made by the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Frisco.
