September 11, 2001, a date deeply imprinted in our memory. Each one of us recalls the very moment when we learned about the tragedy that befell us that day. Our sorrow lingers.

The members of the board of Landmark on Mainstreet invite the residents of Port Washington and their neighbors to join them at the dedication of Landmark's Memorial for the victims of that fateful day and their families.

This tribute will take place on Thursday, Sept. 11, at 6 p.m. at the flagpole on the Webster Avenue side of Landmark.

Karen Eckert from "Garden Elements" graciously helped design the memorial. The imaginary line from the commemorative plaque to a newly planted spruce directs our vision toward the location of the fallen Twin Towers. Each spring, a sea of daffodils will emerge around the tree to remind us of the support America experienced from around the world and strengthen our belief in the continuation of life.
