Mill Pond over the past year has undergonr beautification, adding to our picturesque harbor area. We in Port Washington are very fortunate to have these lovely ponds, both Baxter and Mill Pond, enhancing our community.

Regretfully, some of the sidewalks along Mill Pond are not safe for pedestrians. Yes, a section was indeed repaved but along the side of the pond, going in the easterly direction (Mill Pond Road) are some raised and uneven areas, causing trips and falls.

One such fall occurred recently necessitating a call for medics who responded taking the unfortunate victim to the hospital. Our walking group takes this route weekly and we have had "trips" in the past on that sidewalk. Last fall, one of the walkers from our club caught an upraised sidewalk, tripped and fell, causing bodily injury.

With all the facelifts to various properties that now enhance our town, shouldn't some consideration be made toward improving these sidewalks? How about investing some of our tax dollars into such a project?
