Cross Country competition at Schreiber High School has attracted 30 boys to compete at the varsity and junior varsity level in 5K distance running. This energetic group of boys can often be seen running on the streets of Port searching for hills during afternoon training.

The varsity team consists of ten boys. In the most recent division meet at Bethpage State Park, the varsity team demonstrated its depth against Freeport, Hicksville and Hempstead High Schools. Placing first as a team in this second meet, eight Port boys finished 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th with four runners breaking 20 minutes: Adam Davis, Maurice Maraboli, Victor Schaefer and Peter Gabrielli. The current team record is 4-2. The JV team is also doing well with times of under 22 minutes for Tom Bar, Wilmer Chamul, and Adam Gold.
