August BOE: Teachers Agreement Reached, Nutrition on Agenda
The Schreiber auditorium, brimming with district teachers, exploded in applause and cheers as audience members heard the announcement they were waiting for: A teacher contract agreement had been reached. Completed moments before the Aug. 8 board of education began, the agreement came after more than a year of negotiations and considerable community angst.

Port Washington YC Hosts the 2006 Make-A-Wish Regatta
Forty-five Optimist sailors from the Manhasset Bay area and neighboring communities descended on the Port Washington YC on Saturday, July 22, geared up and ready to go sailing to support a worthy cause, the Make-A-Wish Foundation. By the end of the day, some very tired and soggy sailors had raised over $13,000 to help grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions. And somewhere along the way, each and every young sailor learned that making a difference in another's life is not only fun but very rewarding.

On the Bay
As the summer comes to a close, all the junior sailing programs end for the season, and the sailors plan to gear up for another school year. Some may sail during the fall season when the winds on Long Island Sound and Manhasset Bay are good, and some may even opt to sail with the frostbite fleet during the winter months. But in any case, all of the young sailors will eagerly await another season of sailing with their respective yacht clubs.
