So sorry to learn of the passing of contractor Nick Tassone, 79, from an obit in Port News. Nick should be warmly remembered because his company built many of the finest homes in Port Washington and environs over a period of many years. Nick, in fact, built my home on the top of Orchard Farm Road in 1969. It was a great place and I lived happily there for many years.
The prices we paid back then would hardly build a decent chicken coop at today's astronomical prices. In fact, that was the last buildable lot on Orchard Farm Road, and Nick told me about a decade ago that his main business then was repairing or enlarging existing houses. He then told me it was a general practice in the Port area to tear down an old house and put up another in its place.
Nick, you were truly a good guy and you will be missed.
