Obituary: Eric Shepcaro

Eric Shepcaro, 54, CEO of The Telx Group in Manhattan, passed away on Saturday, May 4 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving family. Eric was the loving husband of Kim Obuch Shepcaro and the devoted and loving father of Jenna and Dylan and the two family dogs Moo Moo and Cali. Born on May 22, 1958 in Little Neck, Queens, he grew up in Port Washington. He was the cherished son of Charlotte Salmansohn who also survives him, and Seymour Shepcaro who predeceased him. He is also survived by his two brothers, Gary of Los Gatos, CA and Marc of Rye, New Hampshire. Eric and his family lived in many places in the United States before moving to Westfield, NJ eleven years ago.

Eric held a B.S. in Human Relations from SUNY Albany and an M.B.A. from San Francisco State University. He was an executive with Sprint, AT&T and CEO of Digital Island before becoming the CEO of Telx. As CEO of Telx, he was recognized as the Best Up and Coming CEO by the Executive Council of New York in 2008 and awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year award by Ernst & Young in 2012.

A world traveler, Eric’s passions were his family, his friends, Muhlenberg College Ice Hockey, the NY Yankees, the NY Rangers, and the San Francisco 49ers. Eric was involved in many charitable organizations. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Eric’s name to any of the following:

Muhlenberg’s Ice Hockey Team (Eric’s son is a member of the team). Make check payable to Muhlenberg College, with a note saying it is in memory of Eric Shepcaro for the Ice Hockey Team.
