Obituary: Lee Sanderson

Lee Sanderson of Westminster, Vermont passed away suddenly on July 3, 2013. He was born in New York City on April 3, 1949, the son of Louise Breyer and Leo Sanderson. He attended school in Port Washington, and college at The School of Visual Arts in Manhattan.

Lee followed in his father’s footsteps as an artist, creating Shaker style furniture for most of his career. Later in life he published editorial cartoons with the Brattleboro Reformer and many regional papers. Lee was a musician and singer for the band Django, which recorded and performed in the Netherlands for several years in the 1970’s. In his recent retirement, he took great pleasure landscaping his property in Westminster.

In 1976, he and his partner and later, wife, Connie Santoli Sanderson, moved to Vermont. There they raised their son, Todd.

Lee lived a rich and full life, and will be missed by everyone who came to know and love him.

He leaves his wife, Connie, beloved son Todd and daughter in law Bethany, and his cherished granddaughter, Audrey of Marlborough, Connecticut, as well as a sister, Kate, of California; and several aunts cousins, nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Lee’s name may be made to Kurn Hattin Homes for Children, PO Box 127, Westminster, VT 05158.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 2 p.m. at Fenton and Hennessy Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vermont.
