It was an exciting week for the 8th grade class of St. Peter of Alcantara.
They celebrated with an amazing Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 14, with each child being recognized and commended for many achievements.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, 8th grade parent, Ginny D’Alonzo Sikes presented a video montage which she created of all the students from birth through 8th grade. Oh, how they’ve grown!
The fun continued with their last day of school on Friday, June 15. With the music of Philip Phillips singing “Gone, Gone, Gone” echoing throughout the sound system, the students did an emotional final walk through the halls of St. Peter’s high-fiving the entire student body and faculty lining the corridors and out the front door with a colorful balloon archway greeting them. So many tears, hugs and kisses for this great group of kids.
On Saturday, June 15, the students finished up their week with the sun shining and beautiful graduation ceremony and Mass celebrated by Father Patrick Whitney, Deacon Joseph Bianco, 8th grade teachers Mrs. Donna Serpico and Ms. Elizabeth Cashin and faculty.
Congratulations to the outstanding graduates of 2013, who will be travelling on to many different high schools, including Regis, Chaminade, Xavier, Sacred Heart Academy, Our Lady of Mercy Academy, Kellenberg, St. Dominic’s, St. Mary’s and Schreiber. Although they will move on, they will always share the same faith-filled foundation and carry that with them throughout their life. God Bless the students, faculty and parents of St. Peter of Alcantara, huzza!
