Four local students were among the winners in the 14th Annual Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS) Bully Prevention Poster and Poetry Contest. These winners were Guggenheim fourth graders Amanda Strobel and Julia O’Sullivan, and Sousa fourth graders Rebecca Packer and Victoria Scinconegui. Close to 1000 students on Long Island submitted entries. There were 15 winners, 12 for posters and 3 for poetry. The winning posters will be featured in the 2013-2014 CAPS School Year Calendar, which will be distributed to all elementary schools in Nassau and Suffolk Counties and local libraries. The calendar is made possible each year through the generosity of Howard and Roz Kroplick of East Hills. CAPS is dedicated to the prevention of child abuse, bullying, peer harassment and Internet safety. Information about programs, educational materials and volunteer opportunities are available at www.capsli.org or by calling 516-621-0552.
