(The following is a letter from The Cornell Cooperative Extension to Roslyn Mayor Janet Galante printed at Mayor Galante request.)

I am writing to let you know of our Water Conservation Audit, an important program and service for Nassau County residents who have automatic, underground sprinkler systems. This is provided free of charge. Staff of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County conduct the audit and it is available to all interested Nassau homeowners, businesses and institutions.

The audit involved a thorough analysis of the sprinkler system and the efficiency of its water delivery, plus recommendations on landscape plant materials.

Please invite all those who live in your village and have an in-ground sprinkler system to participate in this opportunity. Residents can conserve water bills and foster a healthy lawn and landscape at the same time. Appointments are scheduled from April 1 through October 31 of each year.

Anyone who wishes to participate can call us at 454-0900, ext. 255 and ask for the Water Conservation Packets.
