Local Incumbents Enjoy Easy Re-election
Last Tuesday, Nov. 3, a cool 98.5 percent of all US congressional incumbents waltzed to re-election victories. Long Island proved to be no exception to this iron rule: Lawmakers representing the Roslyn area, Gary Ackerman and Peter King, had no trouble fending off their invisible challengers. Only Carolyn McCarthy, who was re-elected with 52 percent of the vote, endured anything resembling a real race.

Parking Debate Returns to Forefront
Debate over the village's longstanding parking problem in the business district may heat up in the coming weeks. The Village Board of Trustees plans to debate a proposed parking trust fund designed to create additional off-street parking at the Nov. 17 BOT meeting.

Roslyn Girl's Soccer Takes First Conference Title Ever
The final whistle had just blown and the Lady Bulldogs walked off the field after completing their first round playoff game against South Side High. The Roslyn supporters and players hugged, kissed and congratulated one another for a job well done. An unmistakable feeling of joy and accomplishment was in the air. You would have thought they had won 7-0. The opposite was true however. They had just been dealt a 7-0 defeat at the hands of the 7-time state champions. But how could everyone be so happy after such a big loss?
