Representatives of the nine municipalities of the Hempstead Harbor Protection Committee met last Thursday at the Bryant Library to discuss the implementation of its newly-completed Water Quality Improvement Plan. After being in existence for only three years, the members touted the committee's ability to bring home the grant money necessary for any extensive harbor cleanup.

The North Shore field hockey team finished their regular season undefeated in their league. The next game was Tuesday, Nov. 3 - the first playoff game - against our all-time rival Carle Place. The teams met at Carle Place amid maroon balloons, streamers, and two great North Shore Viking banners, and at least 50 fans.

The North Shore Vikings' ice hockey team lost its season opener on Nov. 17, falling to the Eagles of Valley Stream, 8-0. Violante starred in goal for the Eagles, notching his second shutout of the season. The league-leading Eagles improved their record to 9-3.
