Heights Residents Defend Historic District Plan
An area including 68 homes in Roslyn Heights is currently under review by the Town of North Hempstead for historic district status. The homes are on Elm and Willow Streets and also include the north side of Garden Street. The TONH Landmark Commission has already approved the historic district status and passed the issue on to the town board which will hold hearings on the matter early next year.

Shooting on Roslyn Road
While putting his key in the front door, a 24-year-old tenant of a second floor Roslyn Road residence was shot in the left forearm and abdomen with a single bullet at around 8:32 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 23.

The Sid Jacobson JCC, 300 Forest Drive, East Hills, is looking for Jewish teen athletes to compete in the 1999 Maccabi Games to be held in Cherry Hill, NJ, Aug. 15-20.
