Heimler Wins Figure Skating Contest
Alison Heimler, age 8, of East Hills was awarded a gold medal when she placed first in her category at the Nassau County Figure Skating Championship held at Cantiague Park in Hicksville. Building upon her silver medal performance in last year's Long Island Skating Championship, Allison impressed the judge with her artistic skating in a performance to the music of A Chorus Line choreographed by her coach Linda Lester, a former member of Disney's World on Ice. Alison is a third grade student in Ms. Palladino's class in the East Hills School. She skates regularly at the Port Washington Skating Center and plans to attend the United States Olympic Figure Skating Training Center in Lake Placid this summer.
