KeySpan Closes Church Street
The impending "collapse" of Church Street, due to heavy rains, caused KeySpan Energy to unilaterally shut down the street last Sunday, Aug. 13. The shutdown caused some consternation among board of trustee members, since it was done without the village's prior knowledge and it happened on a day when many parishioners were attempting to attend Sunday services at Trinity Church, which is located on the street in question.

Sprint Files Suit Against Village
After their application to install three antennas to an existing transmission tower near Rallye Motors in Roslyn was rejected by the Village of Roslyn Board of Trustees, representatives for Sprint Spectrum said they hoped some alternative plan could be worked out between the BOT and the company. Sprint has taken further action, but it entails a lawsuit against the village, one that seeks to overturn the BOT's earlier decision.

Roslyn High School Football Preview
A new Roslyn football season is on its way and all the players and coaches await its beginning with strong anticipation. The 1999 squad finished with a one and seven record, but the coaching staff still insists that the season was a success and that the Roslyn football program is on the right track. In 1999 we started out and finished with 27 players, up from 19 the prior season. Two seasons ago we were last in Conference III scoring, last year we were sixth out of the 14 conference teams. Our quarterback was named honorable mention all-county.
