Budget Avoids Tax Hike
The board of trustees for the Village of Roslyn Estates have passed their own budget for the fiscal year 2001-2002. In addition to achieving a balanced budget, real estate taxes remain unchanged from the previous fiscal year. The budget totals $997,311, with real estate taxes accounting for $771,620 in revenue. Such taxes will stay at 10.78 percent per $100 of assessed real estate value.

Claremont Celebrates Anniversary
The Roslyn Claremont Hotel recently celebrated its tenth anniversary of operations in the village. For the immediate future, the hotel hopes to make additions to its structure, located on 1221 Old Northern Blvd. Hotel officials are working with Village of Roslyn officials to gain approval on a new 2,000 sq. ft. Atrium and a 5,000 sq. ft. Ballroom/Conservatory. In addition, the hotel hopes to construct a new Terrace and a Nature Walk. The hotel wants to make the additions to meet increased space demands for various social events.

Gold Medal for East Hills Skater
Allison Heimler of East Hills won the gold medal in the Moves in the Field and a silver medal in the Individual Freestyle events at the 2001 USFSA Darien Open Figure Skating Championship in Darien, CT, April 26.
