Candidates Vie for Trustee Seats
As with other villages in the Roslyn area, the Village of Roslyn Estates will have board of trustee elections on Tuesday, March 18. Candidates in Roslyn Estates will be running for two-year terms and as opposed to the other villages, there is significant opposition to the incumbents.

Unity Party Breaks Petition Record
Mayor Michael Koblenz of East Hills and the other three Unity Party candidates filed what was said to be the largest number of petitions ever filed by a slate in East Hills history. The four candidates received 659 names on petitions to place the mayor and his running mates on the ballot. Four positions will be filed on March 18, mayor, two trustees and the village justice. The position being contested is village justice, with the incumbent, Arthur Goldberg being challenged by Leonard J. Pugatch.

Hilltop Foundation 5K Race/Walk April 6
Although the temperatures outside are freezing and it seems that the snow on the ground will never melt, the Roslyn Hilltop Educational Foundation Race Committee has begun to prepare for the third annual 5K Run/Walk. This year's race scheduled for April 6 is being chaired by Jeff Levy, Karen Kolb is chairing Corporate Sponsorship and new this year Lisa Levine and Rhonda Sadur are chairing a Journal Committee. Karen reports that responses from corporate sponsorship have been very strong. Most of our past contributors are back and new sponsors have made substantial contributions. The addition of a Race Day Journal will allow individuals, schools, organizations and area businesses to make contributions and show support for race participants. The journal will also contain important information about the race and the foundation.

Little League Umpires Needed
The Roslyn Little League needs student umpires for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings and weekends. The season begins April 5 and lasts until mid-June. Prospective umpires must be at least 13 years old by July 31, 2003. Minimum pay is $25.00 per game.
