'Langone Brothers Avenue' in Roslyn
The Rules Committee of the Nassau County Legislature recently approved a measure to rename a portion of Mineola Avenue in Roslyn Heights as "Langone Brothers Avenue." The street will be named in honor of Peter and Thomas Langone of Roslyn, two emergency workers who perished in the World Trade Center tragedy on September 11, 2001.

Viaduct Renovation a Long Way Off
Some local residents have been inquiring about the status of the proposed renovation work on the Roslyn Viaduct Bridge. According to New York State Department of Transportation officials, nothing is going to take place for a long while. The DOT does not expect to award a contract for another two years. Right now, construction work is set to begin in the winter of 2005.

Albertson Soccer Action
The Albertson Azzurri boys U-10 soccer team came away victorious at the 35th annual Commack Memorial Weekend tournament. Although the Azzurri started slowly in losing their first game to the Smithtown Bulldogs 4-3, the Azzurri put together an impressive string of four consecutive victories to take first place with 12 out of a possible 15 points.
