I want to commend the new members of the board of education for formally taking the necessary legal steps to recover the misappropriated funds.

I further commend them for finally trying to remove Ms. Schissel, who has been charged with misusing funds for her personal benefit.

I do not understand why the present board, the district attorney or the comptroller are not proceeding with criminal actions against those board members who have misappropriated funds.

Why should these people receive a slap on the wrist instead of feeling the full brunt of the law? They have committed grand larceny and should face criminal charges.

I believe that Roslyn should send a strong message to every school district in the United States, that if anyone misappropriates funds, they will be prosecuted for criminal acts and face possible jail time.
