Roslyn Highlands Celebrates Centennial
This past Saturday, up to 600 people came out to Roslyn Heights to help the Roslyn Highlands Fire Department celebrate its 100th anniversary on a day that featured numerous events, including the Nassau County Fire Battalion Parade & Drill, a big parade down Mineola Avenue, and a party that lasted throughout the evening.

Do Not Open Until 2055
The restoration of the Ellen B. Ward Memorial Clock Tower is near completion and all repairs for this major project were covered by private donations, a matching grant from the New York State Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation and a challenge grant from the Gerry Charitable Trust. Co-Chairs Mayor John Durkin, Angela Anton and Douglas Pierce provided the Clock Tower fund-raising leadership.

Roslyn Red Sox Win Championship
On a sunny day in June, the Roslyn Red Sox won the girls Pro Division Softball Championship of the Roslyn Little League. In a close game, the Red Sox beat the Mets 8 to 5. The Red Sox were led by the pitching of Paige Mintz who limited the Mets to one run. The Red Sox had a consistent offensive attack led by Missy Edelblum, Joanna Finkelstein, Paige Mintz, Kendall Berman and Zoe Kline. Clutch hitting was also provided by Arianna Bloom, Alana Stein, Amanda Reiner, Emily Weinshenk and Melissa Doherty. The Red Sox controlled the early part of the game storming out to a 5-1lead. The Mets staged a come back, closing the gap to 6-5. The Red Sox played a stifling defense to shut out the Mets for the final two innings. The team had spectacular defense at shortstop led by Paige Mintz and Joanna Finkelstein. Zoe Kline and Alana Stein were vacuums at first base. Amanda Reiner, Emily Weinshenk, Brittany Mockler and Melissa Doherty played great defense at second base. Ariana Bloom had another outstanding all around game in the outfield.

Finestone Receives All County Honors
At the recent Nassau County High School Softball Awards Benefit held on June 6 at the Cold Spring Harbor Country Club, four Roslyn High School girls were honored.
