There have been more personnel changes at the Roslyn School District. Recently, the board of education has made three appointments, all on an interim basis.

LAWRENCE LIGHT
|
Last month, Anthony Annunziato, who was the district's Assistant Superintendent of Business during the stormiest periods of the embezzlement scandal, resigned his position to become superintendent of the Bayport-Blue Point School District.
The BOE has appointed Lawrence Light as an interim replacement to fill the vacancy. Until his retirement in 1999, Light was Superintendent for Schools in the Babylon School District. He also served that district as a business official.

DR. MARK ROSENBAUM
|
Light has just completed an assignment in 2004-05 as an interim superintendent for finance and facilities in the Half Hollow Hills School District. In Roslyn, he will oversee the district's business and finance operations.
Due to what it called a "sudden and unanticipated" vacancy, the BOE has approved Dr. Mark Rosenbaum as Interim Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Human Resources.

PAT SCHANZER
|
While BOE members claim that the vacancy left them with insufficient time to appoint a permanent replacement to the position, they note that Dr. Rosenbaum is a certified New York State School District Administrator "with experience both as a supervisor and an assistant superintendent of schools."
Following his retirement as superintendent of the Lawrence public schools in 2003, Dr. Rosenbaum has served in interim positions in the Port Washington school district as Director of Creative Arts and in the Garden City schools as Assistant Superintendent for Personnel.
Dr. Rosenbaum is taking the place of Fino Celano, who was recently appointed as Assistant to the Superintendent in the Garden City schools. In addition to the appointment, the BOE has also approved Dr. Rosenbaum's application for a retirement waiver.
Finally, the BOE has appointed Pat Schanzer as the district's interim Director of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS). Ms. Schanzer takes the place of Bruce Gottlieb who has accepted a position in the Cold Spring Harbor public schools.
Ms. Schanzer is a special education consultant and program evaluator who served as PPS director in the Manhasset school district. Since her retirement in 2000, she has held interim positions in a number of Long Island school districts.
In the meantime, the BOE will continue to search for permanent replacements for all of the above positions.
