Dr. Frank Tassone's recent letter to The Roslyn News proves that the lessons of the Greek tragedians live on. Hubris, wanton arrogance resulting from excessive pride, is his true crime. Dr. Tassone is the classic unrepentant narcissist. He portrays himself as victim, minimizes his errors, blames others for offering erroneous advise and extols the virtues of his leadership.
In the final analysis Dr. Tassone is no different than the drug dealers, child molesters, and rapists to whom he favorably compares himself and condemns. He peddled lies and molested the trust of our children. He violated his colleagues as well as the hardworking members of the Roslyn community, who are asked to remember his efforts to improve the value of our real estate investments. Dr. Tassone is in fact the greatest danger that society has to offer - a silver tongued sociopath in a white collar.
When Frank Tassone appears for sentencing, it is my hope that the judge will recall the Greek playwright Sophocles in his portrayal of the final ruin of Oedipus and his family due to relentless pride and arrogance. In the process not only Oedipus but his family were destroyed. In the end it was his children who suffered most.
