On Sunday, Oct. 9, the Mineola Chiefs 8-year-old team played on the road again and this time they beat the Long Beach Bulldogs 39-18. The victory brings their winning record to 5-0. The Chiefs' offense was able to move the ball all day long and scored on every offensive series because of powerful blocking by the offensive line of Teddy Capsis, Gavin Dowd, Michael Delio, Kyle Facibene and the leadership of quarterback Thomas O'Connell. There was just too much offense to write about, so the scoring is summarized below:

* Brian Smith: 15-yard touchdown run.

* Andrew Cunningham: 12-yard touchdown run.

* Thomas O'Connell: 10-yard touchdown run.

* Kyle Spruill: runs in extra point.

* Ryan Eccher: 4-yard touchdown run.

* Brian Smith: 5-yard touchdown run.

* Thomas O'Connell: passes to Michael Patalano for extra point.

* Andrew Cunningham: 34-yard touchdown run.

* Eric McCloskey: runs in extra point.

Every 8-year-old played, had fun and participated in the victory. The players that contributed in the victory were Peter McCormack, Brian Greenberg, James Gerstner, Dennis Gannon, Marc Sarnel, John Clancy, Lucas Golon, Patrick Brady, Thomas Davis, Charles Brown, Matthew Mageau, Brendan Sullivan, Alequandro Pleitez and again, an injured Thomas O'Dwyer was there cheering on his teammates to victory.
