As with towns and municipalities all across the United States, the Village of Roslyn held its own Patriot Day, 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony, last Monday morning, as the nation commemorated the fifth anniversary of the terrorist attack on New York City and Washington, D.C.

Amazing Recovery for Roslyn Runner
John McConnell, a member from the Roslyn Equinox Fitness Club was riding his bike to meet up with his friend and coach, Equinox Group Fitness instructor Tim McNamara. Six days earlier, Tim had run the last 10 miles of the New York City Marathon with Alan Schwartz, another member of the Roslyn Equinox Fitness Club.

Russell Edelbaum Earns Black Belt
On May 20, Russell Edelbaum, age 9, of East Hills, traveled to Philadelphia, PA to take his Black Belt Test under the watchful eye of the renowned Karate Master, Teruyaki Okazaki, a 9th degree black belt and chief instructor for the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF) for the East Coast region of the US and a member of the Japan Karate Association (JKA). He achieved this through hard work, dedication and training, along with a deep respect for his mentor, Sensei Howard Frydman, the owner of North Shore Shotokan Karate in Great Neck.
