Local Instructor Takes the Gold
Billy Finegan of Great Neck, won top prize in the WKF (World Karate Federation) University Games in August 2006 at Long Island University in Brooklyn. He bested competitors from 60 countries who must be members of their national teams and enrolled in college to qualify. The games, which are held every two years, took place in the USA for the very first time. Billy, who has been medaling internationally for the US Team since 1995, said, "It was thrilling to win in front of a local crowd. I loved having my family and students there to watch me fight. They got to see a different side of me."

Chiefs White and Maroon Win Again
This past Sunday, the Mineola PAL 9-year-old White and Maroon Chiefs played at home and were victorious. The 9 White team beat the Inwood Buccaneers 19-14 and the 9 Maroon team shut out the Long Beach Bulldogs 12-0. Both White and Maroon are now 3-1-1.
