New York Institute of Technology's (NYIT) School of Health Professions, Behavioral and Life Sciences will host its third annual Health Fair, including a 5K run and a half-mile kids' fun run, on Sunday, April 13 at the Old Westbury campus.
The event kicks off with the half-mile kid's fun run at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K run at 9 a.m. The Health Fair begins at 10 a.m., and will include free screenings for blood pressure, pulmonary function, glucose, cholesterol, and hearing, as well as preventative health education. Sports tournaments will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a Pilates demonstration at noon, and a karate demonstration at 12:30 p.m. Nutrition counselors will be on hand to help attendees learn how to avoid unhealthy foods and find positive ingredients. In addition, a blood drive will be held to help depleted Long Island blood banks. Recruitment for health-related positions will also take place.
