The Roslyn High School boys basketball team, which is enjoying another winning season, advanced in the first round of Nassau County Class A playoff action, defeating Valley Stream North with a convincing 81-49 win.
The Bulldogs were led, as they have been all season, by senior guard George Beamon, who scored 35 points. Thirteen of those points came in the first quarter when the Bulldogs opened up a 25-10 advantage.
Assisting Beamon was Jordan Richman who had 11 points and 11 rebounds. Beamon also had 10 rebounds.
The win allowed the Bulldogs to advance to a quarterfinal contest against the winner of the Floral Park-Lynbrook matchup.
The Bulldogs ended the regular season with a 13-6 record.
Meanwhile, the Roslyn High School girls' basketball squad season came to a disappointing end on Feb. 13 with a 52-24 loss to Division in the first round of the Nassau County Class A playoffs. Carolyn Fann led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points. Despite the loss, the girls squad had an outstanding season, finishing the regular season with a 9-8 record, going 8-4 in Conference ABC-III play.
