On Nov. 1, Donald Micheletti of Levittown completed the Ironman Triathlon competition held on Panama City Beach in Florida.
The competition consisted of swimming, bicycling, and a marathon run, with strict time limits, a total of 17 hours to complete the entire course.
Micheletti’s daughter, Dominique said, “I have never been so inspired, motivated and proud [of my dad].” Of her biggest hero, she said her father is the most modest and hardworking person she knows.
The swim took place in the Gulf of Mexico, water temperatures in the mid 70s. Next was the flat, single-loop bicycle course, followed by a two-loop run course through a spectator-friendly area, thousands of residents and visitor emerge to support the athletes. The course winds through St. Andrew’s State Park, a favorite among participants for its shaded areas and wildlife. After the second loop, athletes round the last corner for the final quarter-mile to the finish.
