On March 10, the Roslyn Chamber of Commerce held a regular meeting at Roslyn Village Hall. Up to 40 people attended. Members discussed future events, such as the May 23 Antique Fair, one in which the chamber will receive a free table.
Also at the meeting, it was announced that membership dues have been increased to $95 so members who paid the initial $50 need to add an additional $45. Associate memberships at $50 will still be available for businesses not located in Roslyn.
Laura Cafarelli will step down as treasurer due to rules at Chase Bank, where she is employed. Ms. Cafarelli will remain on the board. Volunteers were sought to fill the position. Harun Houssani of CMIT Solutions stepped up to fill the position.
Cindy Young stepped down as VP of events due to personal obligations. Lou Federico from Certa Painters stepped in. Some suggestions for events are membership cocktail dinners, progressive dinners going to several restaurants in the area, etc.
In addition to the Antique Fair, members discussed the need for a Chamber of Commerce booklet/pamphlet. Also discussed were member ID cards, stickers/placards to be displayed in business, plus discount cards for members supporting other member businesses. Volunteers for such projects are, among others, Rob Laser, Barbara Feldman, Jean, Harun, Don Lesser, Susan Banco, and Rhonda Levy.
Elections were held via hands raised with the Board elected, including the two new officers. Harun Houssani as treasurer, Lou Federico as vice president/events. In addition to Houssani and Federico, other officers include: Lonnie Goldman, president; Jean Schacter, vice President/membership; and Lillian Litvack, secretary.
Members from KNIT would like to have a knitting event in Roslyn in conjunction with the national KNIT event June 12 through June 20. Chamber members need assistance from the village government.
The chamber is looking forward to its future meetings.
On May 12, the meeting will be held at Sterling Glen, set for 7 a.m.
